Probate Services & IHT

When a loved one dies the last thing on your mind is dealing with the estate and obtaining probate. However, probate is often required as different financial institutions have different thresholds for probate.

Probate is the legal process you need to go through to deal with someone’s estate when they die. Once the process is complete you will receive a government-approved document which you can present to banks and other organisations. This document gives you the authority to collect assets and distribute funds to beneficiaries.

Depending on individual circumstances, you will either need a grant of probate or a grant of letters of administration. In some cases, probate may not be required at all.

The process for obtaining probate can be complicated and time consuming, with the added challenge of calculating any inheritance tax due on the estate where the value of the estate exceeds the nil rate band (currently £325,000).

We offer a probate service which can be carried out in the comfort of your own home. All the necessary forms are completed for you and submitted on your behalf to the Probate Registry and to HM Revenue & Customs.

Fees for Probate:

Grant of Probate with IHT205   £600
Grant of Probate with IHT400   £750

All prices include the Probate Registry fee and disbursements.
